Vintage USA 1970's Shure Brothers SM58 cardioid dynamic microphone w extras # 1

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a quality Shure Brothers SM-58 dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1970's that has been cleaned and tested. This was the earlier hard to find American made model that was superior to the late models made in Mexico. I t comes with a newer Shure mic clip and an original vinyl Shure carrying case. Pic # 2 is from a 1970's Shure listing that shows most of the mics basic info.

These are highly sought after by musicians today because of their ability to take a beating and excellent sound characteristics. The Shure SM58 has been manufactured for many years now and the current mic has been coming out of China or Mexico for probably 30 years. This early American made SM-58 model is far superior and the sound quality is much better.

These mics are so well made that properly stored... Will last probably 100 years.

Y ou can tell in a side by side test with a new and old SM-58 mic. No comparison if you have an ear for sound.

If this matters for you... You'll want the older American made SM-58. These seem to sell for about 2 to 3 times as much as the new ones. This SM-58 has a beautiful warm tone and it's dual impedance so it can be set at High Z if you'd like but with a regular XLR cable it's low impedance.

These mics are uni-directional picking up only the sound that's directly in front of the screen cancelling out most background noise making it ideal for situations where audience or fellow band members might be a problem. These lite weight mics are built like tanks and can be handheld or placed in a mic clip. As you can see there are typical signs of wear on the original painted handle.

This example is about average for a mic of this age. The paint has been rubbed off from years of use but the front grill looks spectacular. The mic is free of any dents or fractures. The Shure label looks pretty good and mostly legible. The globe is free of any dents, tarnish or corrosion and the original foam insert was replaced as it was in bad shape.

I usually replace these as the older ones are in rough and degraded condition. It helps greatly with acoustics and prevents the dreaded "pops" from breathing or windy conditions. Mic is 100% complete and solid.

Microphone is a very conservative 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. The real beauty of this mic is the sound it produces. Hook this one up and you are ready for any live event. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...

NOT PART OF THIS SALE. The clip is a newer Shure model and works great. It will screw on to any American desk or floor stand. The original Shure vinyl mic case is included and in decent condition. There is some lite damage on the exterior. Zipper works great and will protect your mic while not in actual use. You'll just need any standard XLR cable to operate the mic. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition... INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well.
