Vintage RARE 1960's Shure 578S dynamic microphone old w Atlas stand PROP # 2

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice and somewhat rare Shure Brothers 578S model Omnidyne (omni-directional) dynamic microphone from the 1960's. This was a very modern design for Shure at the time and has a sleek, clean look to it. The Atlas DS-14 desk stand shown is part of this sale. It should be noted that while this 578S is 100% complete it no longer functions as the dynamic element is dead.

This should be used strictly for display, prop or repair purposes. The 578 microphone was short run production Shure microphone manufactured for about 10 to 15 years and had an incredibly small dynamic element for it's time with a clean dual impedance sound and one of Shure Brothers most expensive dynamic mics available. The mic was great for broadcasting purposes or recording purposes. As you can see in the pictures provided...

This 578S is in very nice condition having almost no wear at all. The Shure label looks really nice as does the on / off switch label.

The front screen is free of any tarnish but has just the most subtle of dents. Physically it's an easy 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10. The ON / OFF switch works perfectly as well as the joint mechanism giving the mic a lot of angle up and down. The mic itself is 11 inches long. The mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand though a stand is provided.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE.. The stand is a period and very modern looking Atlas DS-14 model in very nice physical condition. The pads on the bottom of the base are excellent.

The DS-14 first came out in 1960 and made a wide stable (lite weight) platform for most all mics. It's a cast iron design painted in black and has a 3 inch chrome riser.

With the mic and stand this is appx 14 1/2 inches tall with the mic raised up completely. A beautiful combo that will look very nice anywhere it's displayed and worthy of any fine vintage mic collection. As with all my vintage microphones.. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition...
