Vintage RARE 1960's Shure 550S dynamic microphone Hi Z w accessories 545S PE54 2

  

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. This is the unique 550S dynamic microphone that closely resembles the Shure 545S model but there are some distinct differences. The 550S was a dual Z optional mic but this one is currently set at Hi Z. The 550S was also omni-directional as where the 545S id uni-directional.

A very high quality mic that was on the expensive side for it's time and this one was stored exceptionally as it seems to have never been used. Pic # 2 shows this very model in a 1966 Shure Catalo I have. These are so rare that this is the first I have been able to offer in over 6 years and it comes with it's original short cable and a vintage metal case in which to store.

The 550S has an all metal body with a beautiful satin chrome finish and black accents that really set this mic off. The Shure label is perfect and completely legible. Joint mechanism works perfectly and the tension is adjustable. Very mid century and very attractive.

You'll see that there is virtually no wear on this mic and everything functions perfectly. On / off switch works with zero issues and I'd give this mic a solid 10 on a scale of 1 - 10.

The signal strength is 100% and again, the mic is dual Z depending on how you wire the cable but currently set at Hi Z being void of bass. It sounds a bit like a Shure PE54 / PE54D but even a little less bass. This would make a great harp mic.

The mic comes with a shorter 8 foot cable that is original to the mic. It's in excellent condition and it screws right onto the mic. Soft, pliable and great for stage work or studio work. The cable has the quality Switchraft 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. The beautiful vintage metal case is included as well in which to store your items.

The case has a practical carrying handle and locking mechanism. It has the original mustard gold paint scheme. I added two new foam inner pads to keep the mic safe and snug.

It's a very rugged design and compliments the mic nicely. Plenty of room inside for everything as well as a longer cable if you need to. The case shows almost no wear on the paint. Zero dents or corrosion and it's a great accessory to have to keep these items safe from damage. If you demand an excellent working 550S to use frequently...

This will make a very special gift for a friend or for yourself and with the rarity and condition of this mic the value will only increase as the years go by. The 550S will screw onto any stand you plan on using.
