Vintage RARE 1960's Altec Lansing 683A dynamic cardioid microphone w clip Shure

If you are looking for something a little different than you might want to consider this very unique and somewhat rare Altec 683A model Dynamic microphone with High impedance setting. The mic has what I would describe as a strong, clear tone and will be good for general broadcasting or harp use due to it's higher pitched sound. The 683 model came in both high and low impedance. The low impedance model was far better suited for today's uses where you want more bass. Comparable to an Shure SM58. This high Z version would be better to use with a harmonica or for somebody wnating to replicate a "rockabilly" sound as there is hardly any bass in this mics setting. This mic has some weight to it. All metal and built like a tank. I have only ever offered two of these for sale before because I just don't come across these models. One of the better that Altec offered as well. Pic # 2 is from an old catalog I have showing the mic as it was originally advertised. But that mic is the "B" model not an "A" like the one being offered. Mic is appx 7 1/2 inches long X 1 1/4 inch wide at the tip. As you can see in the pictures provided this microphone has a bold, unique design for it's time that resembles the more modern looking mics of today as it was intended to be a handheld piece that could slide easily in and out of a mic clip while being used live.

The mic does come with the original mic clip that works excellent for this microphone. The Altec mic clip will screw onto any desk or floor stand you might use. Plenty of tension in the joint mechanism and it's adjustable with any flat head screwdriver. Shows typical lite scuff marks but no fractures.

As you can see in the detailed pics provided this mic is in decent overall condition. The original satin chrome finish shows typical scuff marks and scratches. The front screen has a few few smaller subtle dents and very lite tarnish. The original Altec label is no longer present. There is an engraving on the bottom of the mics as well. Altec was a very reputable company that built nothing but the best of mics. I very rarely ever come across an Altec that no longer works or sounds bad. The mic takes a standard XLR cable though none is provided. They are easy enough to find. Priced cheap due to physical condition. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTO IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...
