The difference between the 55S and 55SH was that the newer 55SH had a modern and better sounding capsule with a stronger signal and excellent sound characteristics. The 55SH had the same overall body style but it finally incorporated the XLR input which was long overdue.
So much more practical than the original screw on type 3 pin cable. The 55SH no longer had a multi impedance switch and was simply set at low impedance. Many people like the 55SH because it still retains the older 1960's look while being modern. The Super 55 being made today is very obviously not like the 1960's model because of the badge so if you want the older look with the modern sound then the 55SH is a nice alternative. The 55SH is a very high quality dynamic cardioid microphone and can be used for any live event. This mic is a real gem and sounds just as nice. If you need a vintage 55SH mic you can actually use for any live event...
This legendary microphone was used by many famous artists and politicians over the years including Elvis Presley and even the young revolutionary Fidel Castro. Those clean lines and deco styling make this mic stand out from all the others produced over the last century.
Probably the most iconic mic in history. As seen in the pictures provided this mic shows very lite cosmetic wear. Just a few small scuff marks and tiny scratches. The satin chrome absolutely glows. There are no broken or bent ribs either. The black foam screens show no discoloration and zero rips or holes which is always a bonus. The threads for the stand and are excellent and t he joint mechanism holds strong. The Shure label looks very nice as well. Overall this mic is a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. I'm not sure this mic was used much over the years. It's the nicest 55SH I have seen. It should be noted that this mic has an excellent working dynamic cardioid element with strong output and a warm smooth tone. The mic comes with it's original 55SH box that's in good overall condition. It's great to store the mic in while not in use.
Storing it inside will help keep the moisture and dust off which is the general cause of pitting on these chrome microphones. An original data sheet is also included have a ton of technical info on this model. The data sheet states 1989 so I'm assuming that this mic is the same.
This is one very nice looking mic and would make an excellent display piece even if you choose not to use it. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE... USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
As with all my vintage microphones.. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition... INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...
