Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a harder to find, quality Shure Brothers SM-78 "Starmaker" dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1980's that has been cleaned and tested. This was the later 80's Mexican made model.

It comes with a Shure A25 model mic clip shown. Pic # 2 is from a 1980's Shure catalog that shows most of the mics basic info. These are highly sought after by musicians today because of their ability to take a beating and excellent sound characteristics. The SM78 was very similar to the SM58 have a superb frequency response but the SM78 has an ultra lite weight metal housing being about 1/3 the weight of the SM58. Easy to hold for prolonged periods of time and it is slightly shorter in length.

These are very hard to come by and one of the rarest of Shure mic models from that era. The Shure SM78 was only manufactured for about 10 years starting in the early 1980's and being discontinued in the late 1980's or early 90's.

The first gen SM78's were made in The United States where as the last gen were made in Mexico before being discontinued. This SM-78 has a beautiful warm tone with it's 150 OHMS setting. These mics are uni-directional picking up only the sound that's directly in front of the screen cancelling out most background noise making it ideal for situations where audience or fellow band members might be a problem. These lite weight mics are built like tanks and can be handheld or placed in a mic clip.

As you can see there are typical signs of wear on the original painted handle, front globe and Shure label. This example shows s mall scratches and small spots of paint loss from years of use. The mics handle is free of any dents or fractures however. The Shure label is still and slightly worn though completely legible.

T he front grill is free of and dents, tarnish or odors but the the paint is slightly worn. A new inner foam insert had been installed and works excellent.

I usually replace these as the older ones are in rough and degraded condition. It helps greatly with acoustics and prevents the dreaded "pops" from breathing or windy conditions. Mic is 100% complete and solid.

The XLR pins on the mic have been cleaned ensuring a perfect signal once an XLR cable is attached. You can always add a new exterior black foam pop filter as well for an added layer of protection if you feel like you need more. Microphone is a very conservative 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. The real beauty of this mic is the sound it produces.

Hook this one up and you are ready for any live event. The mic comes with the older A-25 model Shure mic clip that's shows lite wear but works perfectly.

Grips the mic firmly and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. You'll just need any standard XLR cable to operate the mic. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY... NOT PART OF THIS SALE.

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition... INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask and..
