It's been said by many musicians that the sound quality of this particular microphone is the best bang for the buck. Perfect for vocals, broadcasting and drums.
It comes with the cable shown as well. This PE65L is no different. This model comes with the on / off switch that works perfectly and slides smooth. The PE65L is a bit of a mystery to me as I have only ever seen two other models. It was American made and the very last in the 545SD series. The PE65L appears to be nothing more than an American made 545SD but the PE65L has a unique grey paint scheme and a red Shure name on the logo. Otherwise it's exactly the same. Shure moved their 545SD plant to Mexico in the 1980's where most of these models were made from there on out but this in an American made example. Pic # 2 is from an old catalog I have showing all of the 545 series performance characteristics.
As you can see in the pictures provided there are typical lite signs of wear. The painted handle is free of any dents, engravings or fractures however. The black plastic fittings have no cracks or fractures. The front screen shows no tarnish but just the slightest deformation. This is a very nice example.
She certainly sounds as good she looks. The mic has a new inner foam screen that helps greatly reduce unwanted "pops" from breathing and singing too close to the mic. The original foam deteriorates over time so it's crucial that it is replaced. This mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included but these are very easy to find. The mic comes with a newer Shure mic clip that works excellent for this mic.
Holds the mic firmly and gives a wide degree of tilt up and down. These newer clips have a softer compound which makes them less likely to scratch the paint on the handle of the mic. A newer Shure mic black vinyl pouch is also included that you can store the mic in when not in actual use. The pouch is in excellent condition overall with zero wear. It has a perfect working zipper as well.Overall a very nice looking mic that's far above average for a 40 + year old microphone and an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE AND USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.. As with all my vintage microphones and stands.. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition...
