Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. Here's a unique and somewhat rarer Shure Brothers mic that you don't see every day. The model SM-76 dynamic microphone currently set at high impedance though it a dual impedance mic. It has a clear rich tone that you'll really appreciate and it comes with an original Shure mic clip and mic sleeve. If you like the sound of the E.
V 635A then you'll really like this mic as well. I believe this is a late 60's or 70's model. The SM-76 was basically a modified Shure 578 model mic. Unlike the 578 model that came with a satin chrome finish and attached cable... The SM-76 had the modern XLR connection and had a stock olive drab paint scheme. The SM-76 is 8 1/4 inches long X 3/4 inch. It's an all metal body that's built like a tank. Pic # 2 is from an older Shure advertisement stating the mics uses and characteristics.
This was Shure's higher end dynamic mic in their dynamic line up. The SM-76 series has a very modern practical look and it's an omni-directional mic that's great to use with instruments. Great for general broadcasting as well.As you can see in the pictures provided there are typical lite signs of wear on the original paint. The Shure logo that encircles the mic shows lite wear as well but there are no dents or tarnish on the front mesh screen. Let the pics be your guide please. Mic is 100% complete and solid.
It should be noted that the mic is set on high impedance. It has a higher pitched sound.I would strongly suggest switching it to low impedance if you want a richer, fuller sound. This can be done easily by unscrewing the top portion of the mic and switching the contact points to achieve Low impedance. I have heard these in both low Z and High Z and really prefer the low Z setting. This is your choice to make however. Mic comes with an original A57E model mic clip that fits this mic perfectly and it's in very nice condition. The clip provides a wide degree of tilt up and down and will screw onto any desk or floor stand.
The vinyl Shure red mic sleeve is included. It shows typical heavier wear but works great and will do fine storing your precious mic when not in actual use. Overall a good looking and excellent working mic that's above average for a 40 year old microphone and an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. Hook this one up and you are ready for any live event.MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE... USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition...
