Vintage 1960's RARE Shure 585SAV Dynamic microphone High Z old w accessories # 1

  

Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice 1960's era Shure Brothers 585 SAV Dynamic cardioid microphone with the adjustable volume knob and set at high impedance.

The microphone comes with a short mic cable, mic clip and mic carrying pouch. Pic # 2 is from a catalog I have showing all of the mics performance characteristics. This was often called the James Cotton mic as he used this model quite often over the years. You'll see him using this type in pic # 3.

This microphone is great for vocals and general broadcasting but can even used as a great harp microphone with it's High impedance signal. The satin chrome finish shows very few signs of wear as seen in the pics provided. The Shure logo that encircles the globe looks very good.

The actual chrome globe is free of any tarnish but there are a few subtle dents. I added a thin foam liner to the inside of the globe as the old one had completely fell apart and this helps greatly with the sound characteristics. The new foam will cut down on any unwanted "pops" you get when breathing close or in windy conditions. The volume knob on these older mics usually don't work very well from my personal experience but I take the time to disassemble them and clean them out. This one works perfectly again as it should.

You'll notice that the volume does come on quickly at about the half way point but the signal strength is consistent with no glitches and there really isn't any point having a volume knob if it doesn't work properly right? The 585 SAV comes with a short 6 inch vintage Amphenol cable that's in great usable condition and comes with a male XLR end connector for use with most modern audio equipment. The cable is soft and pliable.

Free of any cracks or dry rot. Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice to your audio equipment. The mic clip is a newer generic model that works excellent for this mic giving the user a wide degree of tilt up and down and hold the mic tightly.

The clip shows very lite wear. It will screw onto any desk or floor stand you use.

Also included is a newer Shure black vinyl carrying case in which to store or transport your mic. The case is in excellent condition and the zipper works great. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE... USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. Overall I would rate this mic a 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department but I would recommend actually using this piece rather than for display. She's got plenty of life left in her. Made right here in America and built to last! As with all my vintage microphone and related items.. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition...
